Origin of cream cheese
Did you know that cream cheese was created in Brazil?
Yes, our beloved curd cheese originated in Brazil. It is a product derived from cow's milk and has a slightly sweet taste and soft texture.
The origin of cream cheese in Brazil dates back to when the first Portuguese settlers arrived in the country.
A very interesting curiosity is that cottage cheese as we know it today arose from a ritual in colonial times where it was served in the homes of the wealthiest lords of the time, such as the colonels, among others.
The production of curd cheese was a clever way of making use of surplus milk that would otherwise go to waste. That's when recipes for homemade cream cheese came into being.
