Origin of chicken lasagna
Lasagna is a dish of Italian origin, but it has become very popular in the contemporary world.
Its popularity is due to its versatility as a dish, as well as its status as a home-cooked meal. For many people, lasagna is the food they would most associate with home-cooked meals.
The Lasagna is a type of Italian food that has been eaten for centuries. The original lasagna, created in Naples in Italy, didn't have layers of cheese in the dish. The dish evolved over time and the ingredients were brought to America, where it became famous for its multiple layers of cheese.
In America today, lasagna has become a popular food that many people make at home because it's delicious, easy to make and affordable. It's an Italian dish that consists of a sheet of pasta made with boiled durum wheat flour, covered with meat or tomato sauce and then topped with cheese.
As time went by and lasagne was exported all over the world, changes were made to the original recipe, such as chicken lasagne.
Chicken lasagna is a very tasty variation on the original recipe, which is widely consumed all over the world and is very popular, especially in Brazil. This type of lasagna uses chicken instead of the more traditional meat and includes vegetables, extras such as mushrooms and spinach in some of the recipe variations to make it healthier.
Ingredients for ham and cheese lasagna
To make this delicious recipe, the main ingredients are these:
chicken breasts - It's an ingredient that we usually have at home, but if necessary, we can buy it at any neighborhood grocery store.
Fresh pasta for lasagna - If you don't usually make lasagne, you probably won't have this ingredient available, but you can buy it in any supermarket.
Mozzarella cheese and ham - These two ingredients are usually always present in our homes, but if they have run out, they are very easy to access.
Olive oil - Olive oil gives our lasagna a very distinctive flavor and is a common component in Portuguese homes. It's also an ingredient that may not be found in Brazilian homes due to its price, but you can find olive oil in any neighborhood supermarket.

Assembling chicken lasagne is not very difficult, but you will need to follow this procedure.
We always start with the lasagna filling, then a layer of pasta, then a little more lasagna filling, then a layer of ham, then a layer of mozzarella cheese and repeat the process until all the ingredients are used up.
When you finish the assembly, finish with a layer of cheese, so that it melts and browns making our chicken lasagna very creamy.
But you can see the whole procedure step by step in the free video recipe!
Common questions:
Below we answer the most common questions from our community about the recipe for chicken lasagna with cheese and ham:
How do I know the lasagna is ready?
The lasagne is ready when the cheese on top is melted and golden brown.
Can you make lasagna in aluminum foil?
When you're baking a lasagna, you have to worry about overcooked pasta around the edges. The aluminum baking dish is ideal for preventing this from happening, as it cooks the food evenly instead of starting at the edges!
When you bake cakes and other pastries in an aluminum pan, they always come out perfect!
Can you leave the lasagna assembled overnight?
You can leave the prepared lasagne in the fridge overnight, but it's best to bake it immediately so that the pasta doesn't have time to absorb too much moisture from the sauce.
What to do if the lasagna gets dry?
Place the lasagna in the oven for about 20 minutes, then remove the plate from the oven and stick a fork in the center for 15 seconds before removing it.
If it's hot, your lasagna is ready; if not, cover it again and return to the oven every 5 minutes.
